A Sustainable Work Model: Towards Remote and in the Office Work

As we are experiencing a return to the office, we notice that remote work experience during lockdown has reinforced some myths relating to the workspace. When trying to define new forms of work, we can see how some beliefs on the benefits and risks of in-person work have become prominent. The purpose of this study is to offer a balanced view of the advantages and disadvantages of remote work. And of the advantages and disadvantages of face-to-face work at the ?office?. The aim of the study is to foster a rational use of spaces. To improve the quality of life of employees and their families. To contribute to achieving a more sustainable and ecological environment. The perspective adopted by this study in relation to remote work, complemented by in-person work, is that it brings the most advantages to all the following stakeholders: employees and their families, the company, and society as a whole. Many of the figures we present in the study are from primary sources. That is: we have collected them at the ICWF. In studies conducted either pre-COVID-19 or during the lockdown (we will state this in each case). What we experienced during the health scare was not the ideal ?cruise? that we all expected remote work to be. It was more like bailing water from a drifting boat with icebergs threatening both port and starboard. However, it has taught us invaluable lessons that help us reflect on the real possibilities of remote work. In addition, we have the steadfast hope that we can use what we have experienced and suffered to develop more resilient collaborators and companies. Which adapt to circumstances. Which seek solutions. Which align themselves around one goal: the common good. The study will help readers adopt ways of using space and working remotely that are better for everyone.
