The team of advisors under the supervision of John Galt gathered at the Coral Gables, Florida, offices of Atlas Financial Advisors in early January 2020. The meeting was held with the sole purpose of issuing a recommendation to the Board of Trustees of the Green Hills golf club, whose $200 million endowment Atlas advised. This case replaces the F-727 Atlas Investment Management case from the same author.

Learning objective The case aims to introduce MBAs and executives to the most relevant issues related to bond investing. A team of financial advisors must decide which bond or bonds to recommend to one of their clients, which requires doing at least two things: first, crunching all the essential numbers; then, making a good recommendation based on those numbers. The case provides information to calculate and discuss yields to maturity, default risk, and interest-rate risk. The case is also flexible enough to discuss several other issues related to bond investing, such as types of bonds, types of issuers, and other sources of risk.
