The Economic Impact of Bike Sharing in European Cities

Print Share
The aim of the document is to analyze the economic impact of bike sharing in 13 European cities. There is a historical overview of the various solutions proposed up to now, before the document deals with their effects on the economy, health, environment and transport of the 13 cities. To that end, the authors have relied on the input-output method proposed by Leontief and on the health economic assessment tool (HEAT) of the World Health Organization. Finally, there is a qualitative analysis of private dockless bike sharing, with this being compared with institutional models. Its advantages as a business model are highlighted, as well as its potential drawbacks for society.
